Community Funding For Renewable Energy Ireland

Community Funding For Renewable Energy Ireland

NuTech Renewables Ltd  provide free and impartial support and advice to communities and non-profit distributing organisations  who are planning on the Installation of  renewable heating systems such as solar thermal systems, biomass boilers or heat pumps.  These renewable energy systems will help to heat community buildings, which will  help to reduce heating bills.  Additionally NuTech Renewables Ltd can search for financial support, i.e renewable energy loans, or  grant schemes available, for community projects that aim to reduce the carbon footprint of a local area, provide energy, or provide an income via the installation of a renewable energy system such as solar photovoltaic or a commercial biomass boiler.

Previous examples of renewable energy grants for communities include the

Sustainable Energy Community Program.  The sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) will establish a partnership with a total of 6 Local Authorities to deliver Sustainable Energy Community (SEC), where everyone works together to develop a sustainable-energy system. To do so, they aim as far as possible to be energy-efficient, to use renewable energy and to develop decentralised energy supplies.  Support will include expert technical assistance, identification of funding streams and assistance in establishing successful stakeholder engagement structures and pilot projects

Leader Grants. Community groups interested in establishing a business or a service in a rural area should approach their local LEADER group (LAG), where they may be able to apply for finacial help with the installation of renewable energy systems as part of a wider community project. The funding for community projects whether they are community services or community enterprises is at a rate of 75% from LEADER up to a maximum in exceptional circumstances of €500,000.  For further details please visit :
